The employees at NYCM Insurance’s home office in Edmeston might be thousands of miles away from the victims of the devastating earthquake that struck Haiti, but on Tuesday, January 26, they stood right by their side. In fact, they even dressed for the occasion.
NYCM’s workforce and the company teamed up to hold a special “Casual for a Cause” day, with each employee who contributed at least $1 to Haiti relief allowed to dress casually for the day, even in their most comfortable jeans! The company pledged to match the employees’ contributions.
The result? In just that one day, employees contributed $5,000, with hundreds donating much more than the minimum amount. Doubled by the company’s matching gift, a total of $10,000 was sent to the American Red Cross, earmarked to support the relief efforts in Haiti.
“It was a special day in several respects,” observed Jeremy Robinson, Vice President of Marketing for NYCM Insurance. “The spirit of helping others who had suffered a misfortune, combined with a more informal feel in the office, added a warmth and spirit to the work environment that were genuine and truly remarkable.”
In going casual for the cause, the NYCM Insurance family made that spirit come alive not only in Edmeston, but thousands of miles away. |
