Flood Relief Efforts in New York State
NYCM Insurance partnered with other local businesses to provide relief efforts to our neighbors who were devastated by recent flooding caused by Hurricanes Irene and Lee. Our combined efforts brought items such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, hand sanitizer, all-purpose cleaner, rubber gloves, masks, paper towels, yogurt, peanut butter, jelly and bread. We visited Sidney, Owego and Margarettville. NYCM's Vice President of Marketing, Jeremy Robinson, stated that "a little teamwork can go a long way, as we gladly help our neighbors in any way we can."
Happy Holiday for Flooded Families
Marketing and Research & Development collectively raised nearly $400.00 and went shopping. They were provided the names of two families devastated by the recent flooding caused by storms Irene and Lee.
The first family was an older couple trying to put their home back together, NYCM Insurance mailed them a gift certificate to Lowe's so they could pick out items they wanted most. The second was a very large family that had lost nearly everything but the structure of their home. NYCM Insurance provided gifts for the family to help them celebrate the holidays.
Casual for a Cause
NYCM Insurance goes "Casual for a Cause"! NYCM Insurance supports many fund raising efforts for various organizations throughout the year. 2011 has been an exceptional year for giving. NYCM Insurance participated in 17 casual days, asking employees to pay a minimum of a dollar a day, and generated a grand total of $17,543.75. Donations were shared among the following organizations: American Heart Association, Children's Miracle Network, Doctors without Borders, Relay for Life, The Wounded Warrior Project, Red Cross, United Way, and local area food banks, among others.
Soldier Program: IT Buddies
NYCM Insurance is a proud sponsor of the Soldier Program which is championed by Information Technology's "IT Buddies". There are nearly 35 teams of NYCM employees involved in the effort which helps to send care packages to soldiers deployed overseas. During 2011, NYCM employees sent 175 packages to 46 soldiers. NYCM contributes items to each package and pays shipping, without which we would not be able to help as many soldiers as we do.
