Telephone Interviewer I

DIVISION: Customer Service

JOB SUMMARY:
The Telephone Interviewer is responsible for conducting verifications of policy information with existing and new NYCM customers. While welcoming new customers and reacquainting NYCM with renewal customers, the interviewer will verify current application or policy information. The Telephone Interviewer is responsible for providing complete information to the underwriting department regarding personal individual and/or household member background information, in relation to automobile, homeowner, or umbrella insurance products. The Telephone Interviewer position is available at our Edmeston, Sherburne, Amsterdam, and Orchard Park offices.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform verification of policy information via telephone, speaking directly to insureds
  • Utilize and learn proper telephone etiquette
  • Gather and develop information regarding driving history and other pertinent risk factors used to determine an applicant's suitability for particular insurance products offered by NYCM

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Basic computer skills
  • Knowledge of PACE, ScreenPop, AS/400 and The Client is preferred

Technical

DIVISION: Underwriting

JOB SUMMARY:
The Technical is responsible for the daily business operations within the Underwriting department. This individual should have an understanding of the rating and processing of work. Also, the Technical should be knowledgeable in workflow and procedures to handle system related questions.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Run AQT, Crystal, Actuate, On Demand, and Business Object Reports with ability to create and review reports
  • Work PACE transactional queues and technical queues
  • Write program requests and collaborate with various divisions while implementing and auditing requests  
  • Hold presentations on new programs moving into production, review audit, and implementations plans
  • Conduct cross training within the group when requested by the Supervisor  
  • Maintain good working relations with team members within the Underwriting division and while interacting with other divisions
  • Professionally handle incoming and outgoing customer phone calls
  • Manage projects with direct guidance of the Technical Specialist
  • Provide audit support for program moves impacting the Underwriting department
  • Work InControl databases and reports
  • Interact with the DMV through the internet portal
  • Handle all functions of property inspections, including: reviewing Crystal reports, documenting PACE, and emailing hand typed inspections
  • Perform a quarterly review of agent lobby, specific to all forms for all lines of business
  • Quarterly review of statistical data submission to ISO/AAIS
  • Additional duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent business experience
  • Understanding of PACE functionality, underwriting procedures, and workflow processes
  • Technical proficiency in Crystal and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Understanding of personal lines underwriting, including: applications, endorsements, renewals, and cancelations
  • Efficient computer skills

Technical Support

JOB SUMMARY:
The Technical Support will be responsible for working daily routine Underwriting reports to provide analytical and technical support to the Underwriting department. This individual should have a competent understanding of the Underwriting process.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Handle requests and answer inquires from internal departments regarding underwriting processes
  • Handle all functions of property inspections, including: reviewing crystal reports, documenting PACE, emailing hand typed inspections, and working the edocs indexing error
  • Professionally handle incoming and outgoing customer phone calls
  • Provide support in testing and auditing of projects
  • Maintain good working relations with team members within Underwriting and while interacting with other divisions
  • Run, review, and update a wide variety of reports while being mindful of time constraints
  • Work daily renewal installment lists
  • Interact with the DMV through the internet portal
  • Process bulk mortgagee changes
  • Work the technical incoming tray and emails
  • Update the weekly interruption log
  • Process deletes, spoils, holds, diverts, and do not sends as needed
  • Hand type underwriting notices as needed
  • Assist with monthly bill verification, regulatory reports, Econo ID theft counts, and user accounts for vender management
  • Additional duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma
  • Understanding of PACE functionality, underwriting procedures, and operation processes
  • Effective communication, problem solving, and analytical skills
  • Efficient computer and keyboarding skills
  • Ability to work with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must be an organized and adaptable team player
  • Excellent multitasking, communication, problem solving, and cooperation skills
  • Maintain confidentiality of all data
