Telephone Interviewer I

JOB SUMMARY:
The Telephone Interviewer is often the first point of contact a customer has with NYCM. It is the first opportunity to make a positive lasting impression. While welcoming our new customers and reacquainting existing customers with NYCM, Telephone Interviewers will verify current application and policy information through conversation while creating positive connections with our customers. Upon completion of the policy verification, it is the responsibility of the Interviewer to provide complete, accurate information to the Underwriting department regarding personal, individual and/or household member background information, in relation to automobile, homeowner, or umbrella insurance products. This position is available at our Edmeston, Sherburne, Amsterdam or Orchard Park offices.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Converse with customers in a warm, friendly, professional manner
  • Perform verification of policy information via telephone, speaking directly to insureds
  • Utilize and learn proper telephone etiquette
  • Gather and develop information regarding driving history and other pertinent risk factors used to determine an applicant's suitability for particular insurance products offered by NYCM

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Basic computer skills

Cafe Service Worker

JOB SUMMARY:
The Cafe Service Worker prepares and serves food to NYCM employees and outside guests, adhering to quality standards, customer service, and core values.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan the Cafe weekly dessert menu
  • Prepare the dessert menu items
  • Assist with preparation of all Cafe menu items using established policies and procedures
  • Ensure salad bar items are prepared in sufficient quantities to satisfy volumes
  • Sets up, maintains, and breaks down salad bar
  • Receive deliveries when assigned
  • Back-up line cooks as necessary
  • Work in collaboration with the Cafe team to develop new menu ideas

Property Examiner II

DIVISION: Claims

JOB SUMMARY:
The Property Examiner II is responsible for the handling and oversight of first and third party property claims of up to $50,000. The Property Examiner must manage the claim process, including coverage verification, investigation, evaluation and disposition of the claim. This is to be done in accordance with applicable insurance regulations and best practices.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review each claim to determine coverage.
  • Investigate each claim to determine the cause, scope and amount of the loss.
  • Work with and provide mentoring to staff and oversee independent field adjusters.
  • Identify the need for outside experts and venders and oversee their involvement in the claim process.
  • Manage expenses for cost effective use of outside vendors.
  • Effectively manage a working diary of assigned claims in a timely fashion to conclusion.
  • Identify Fraud Indicators and report to EFW and SIU.
  • Identify, investigate, preserve and pursue subrogation opportunities.
  • Ability to desk adjust small to moderate property claims.
  • Ability to handle small property liability claims.
  • Work on special projects and perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A four-year degree from an accredited institution or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of two years as an Examiner or equivalent experience
  • Completion of AINS designation. Actively pursuing AIC designation.
  • Must communicate professionally with excellent verbal and writing skills.
  • Excellent understanding of building and construction terms and principals.  Field adjusting or construction experience is beneficial.
  • Knowledge and understanding of laws and regulations governing the handling of first and third party property claims.
  • Ability to travel.
